Jack L. Voncannon's Obituary
Jack L. VonCannon, 67, of Cedar Vale, Kansas, passed away Friday morning, July 10, 2015, at his home.
Born December 11, 1947 in Hewins, Kansas, he was the son of Paul and Alice (Rush) VonCannon. He was raised and received his education in Chautauqua County. Jack joined the United States Army and served for four years. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Cedar Vale and began working as a Heavy Equipment Operator on the pipeline.
Jack was united in marriage to Virginia R. McNown in 1988 in Miami, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Cedar Vale. Jack traveled with pipeline all over the western United States, including Texas, Colorado and Oklahoma, retiring in 2010. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
His family includes:
His wife: Ginny VonCannon of Cedar Vale;
His daughters: Kelli VonCannon of Pittsfield, MA; Nicole VonCannon of Derby, KS;
His brother: John VonCannon of Stonewall, OK;
His sister: Judy VonCannon of Winfield;
His mother-in-law: Elizabeth McNown; and
Numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Jack was preceded in death by his sister, Joan Robinson and his father-in-law, Roy McNown.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield, Kansas. There will be a reception at the Long Shed in Cedar Vale, Kansas after the service at 1:00 P.M.
Memorials have been established in Jack's name for Gentiva Hospice and for St. Jude Children's Hospital. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
