JACK L. PRINGLE SR., 85, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday afternoon, November 17, 2012 at his home.
Born on September 24, 1927 in Douglass, Kansas, he was the son of John Stewart and Agnes A. (Purdy) Pringle. He received his education in El Dorado, Kansas and graduated from Butler County Public School in 1943. Jack attended the Aircraft Riveting Boeing Training School in Wichita.
As a young man, Jack helped area farmers and later went to Colorado where he worked at the Coca Cola Bottling Company. He was drafted into the United States Army on February 4, 1946 and received an honorable medical discharge on December 14, 1946. He returned to El Dorado and worked in the oilfields.
He was united in marriage to Shirley Craig on December 24, 1951 in Winfield, Kansas. The couple moved to rural Winfield in 1954 where they have continuously resided. Jack lived the rest of his life as a farmer.
Jack joined the Construction and General Laborers Union Local 1290 in 1967 and worked at various sites during the mid 70's including William Newton Memorial Hospital, Southwestern College, the Kellogg Grain Elevator, and He also worked on missile sites in the surrounding areas.
Jack attended the First Presbyterian Church in Winfield. He was a 45 year member of the Labor Local Union 1290. Jack also served as a 4-H livestock leader for the Walnut Valley 4-H Club. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and stock car racing. He loved watching sports on television from the comfort of his recliner.

His grandchildren: Elizabeth Ann Bryant and husband Dru of Wichita, KS; Craig Marlin Pringle and fiance' Megan Sramek, Carrie Beth Pringle all of Winfield, KS; and Alexis Chrystine Anderson and fiance' Sean Partain of Kansas City, MO; and
His sisters-in-law: Virginia Hanks of Euless, TX; and Virginia Pringle of El Dorado, KS.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bob, Bill and infant Donald; and his infant sister, Joyce.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church. The family will greet friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in Jack's name be made to the First Presbyterian Church and the Cowley County 4-H Club.
