Obituary

JACK LEN PLUMMER went to be with his Lord on Saturday, November 3, 2012 in Winfield, Kansas.

He was born near Chelsea, Oklahoma on June 29, 1934. He was the son of Clemence M. and Mildred Virginia (Moreland) Plummer. He lived most of his childhood in Nowata and Rogers counties, Oklahoma. He attended schools in Childers and Delaware. He lived at Whittaker Children's home in Pryor for three years before his family moved to Udall, Kansas where he attended high school.

Jack was inducted into the United States Army on December 10, 1956 and he was honorably discharged on December 12, 1958. He actively served the Kansas National Guard for two years and inactively for three years.

He was united in marriage to Ruth Seal Warren on January 2, 1960 in Wellington, Kansas and to this union two daughters were born. She preceded him in death on September 14, 1983.

Jack was employed with Greif Brothers' Corporation at Strother Field and retired in 1996 after 32 years of service. He was also well known in Cowley County as a subcontractor in home improvement and fence installation.

It was while he was subcontracting for Sears Roebuck in Arkansas City, he met Joyce Sewell Humphrey. They later married in Arkansas City, Kansas on April 4, 1986 and made their home in rural Winfield, Kansas.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Ruth, his brothers, Robert, Norman, Virgil, and Marvin Plummer, three grandsons, Franklin Dabbs, Terry Crane and Matthew Grogan and one granddaughter, Karen Perry Whittington.

He is survived by:

Special adopted daughter: Cheri Heck of Andover;
His grandchildren: Jeremiah and wife, Christina Orr of Savoy, Texas; Rebekah and Darin Nace of Augusta, Kansas; Thanh and wife, Lauren of Manhattan; Kevin Grogan of Wichita; Ryan Grogan and Brandy and Sarah Helms of Arkansas City; David and wife Marcie Crane of Pearland, Texas; Liona Oxford of Wheaton, Missouri; Karolyn and husband David Apple of Guthrie, Oklahoma; Ralph and Darla Dabbs of Guthrie, Oklahoma; Liona Dabbs of Guthrie, Oklahoma; Delbert Jr. and wife Lee Perry of Winfield; Jerald and wife Cissy Perry of Lawton, Oklahoma; Tammy Schultz of Winfield; Vincent and wife, Crystal of Winfield; Bryce and wife Dawn Warren of Winfield; and Hannah and Breanna Humphrey;
His brother: Raymond Plummer of Wisconsin;
His sisters: Josephine Toles of McCloud Oklahoma; and Shirley Carson and Steve Martinez of Winfield;
Numerous nephews and nieces, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at Central Baptist Church. Inurnment and Military Committal Honors will follow at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

A Memorial has been established in Jack's name for RiverCross Hospice. Contributions may be made through the funeral homes.
