Jackie "Jack" Richard McDade, 82, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday afternoon, June 14, 2009 at his home.

Born September 8, 1926 in Grenola, Kansas, he was the son of David William "D.W." and Sylvia (Alberding) McDade. He was raised in and received his early education in Tannehill and later in the Winfield area.

He was united in marriage to Norma Jean Calvin on April 29, 1945 in Newkirk, Oklahoma. The couple made their home and raised their children in the Winfield area. Jack was employed at several area flour mills and grain elevators, and later owned and operated McDade Trucking. In the 1970's he began working at Binney and Smith and retired after 10 years of service in the late 1980's.

He enjoyed gardening, farming, and especially loved coon hunting, and raising his coon dogs.

His sons: David McDade of Winfield; Richard McDade and wife, Pam of Winfield; Dennis McDade and wife, Jana of Winfield;
His daughters: Connie Adamson and husband, Gary of Three Rivers, MI; Marcia McDade-Nugent and husband, Randy of Summerfield, FL; Janice McDade-Grigsby of Winfield;
His sister: Dorothy Cummings of Winfield; and
His 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James F. McDade and his grandson Kevin Dean.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, June 19, 2009 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Akron Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M., Thursday, June 18, 2009. The family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00, that evening.

Memorials have been established in Mr. McDade's name for the Tisdale United Methodist Church and the American Heart Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
