Obituary

JACK E. LEFTWICH, 76, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday evening, July 17, 2012 at his home.

Born on February 25, 1936 in rural Burden, Kansas, he was the son of Marion Howell and Jessie Augusta (Garoutte) Leftwich. He was raised in Burden and at the age of 9 Jack had his "first job" sanding cars at Melvin Lewis Chevrolet in Burden. At age 10 he delivered ice in the mornings before school and started working at the Kaiser-Frasier Dealership pumping gas and learning to be a mechanic. Jack graduated from Burden High School in 1954.

He was a member of the United States National Guard for 3 years. Jack was a mechanic all of his life and worked for Bill Hinkley for several years before owning and operating his own business, Jacks Auto Repair, from 1971 to 2005. He began employment at O'Reilly's Auto Parts in 2004 delivering auto parts and retired this past April.

He was involved in the Square Dance Club, the Motorcycle Club, the Antique Motorcycle Club and the Kaiser-Frazier Owners Club. Jack enjoyed family, motorcycles, old cars, road trips and model trains.

Jack was united in marriage to Bertha Arlene Love and to this union 4 children were born, Peggy, Edward, Jeni and Bonita. The couple later divorced. He later married Judith Gale Lukins and to this union, their son Stephen was born.

In 1978, Jack met the love of his life and soul mate, Nita, gaining 2 more children, Neva and Jason.

His sons: Edward Leftwich of McCloud, OK; and Stephen Leftwich and wife Jessica of Branson, MO;
His daughters: Peggy Stalnaker and husband David of Winfield, KS; Jeni Bazzle and Steve Hope of Washoe Valley, NV; Bonita Watkins and husband Scott of Tulsa, OK; and Neva Otte and husband Daryl of Winfield, KS;
His brothers: John Leftwich and wife Shirley of The Woodlands, TX;
His step-brother: John Siemer and wife Anita of Wichita, KS;
His step-sisters: Carol Tatum of Winfield, KS; and Bonnie Belisle of Wichita, KS;
His sister-in-law: Marian Leftwich of Carbondale, ILL;
His grandchildren: Melissa Seacat and fiance' Kevin Riemann, Justin Seacat and wife Jimmie, Jessie Vogele and husband Sam, Kallian Leftwich and wife Shawna, Cheyenne Leftwich, Jake Bazzle and wife Cheyenne, Caleb Bazzle and fiance' Amber Edgar, Leo Smith, Auburn Marquiess and John Kidd, Avery Leftwich, Deztini and Nezarae Leftwich, and Miranda, Morgan and Madi Otte;
His great-grandchildren: Madelyn, Wyatt, Sienna, Shay, Serena, Christopher, Dillon, Sam, Brooke, Seth, Skylar, Jayden, Brianna, Riley and one on the way.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Jason Henderson; his great-grandson, Waylon Bazzle; his brother, Eugene Leftwich; his step-mother, Thelma Leftwich; and his step-sister, Betty Jenkins.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Friday, July 20, 2012 and the family will greet friends during that time.

Memorials have been established in Jack's name for Rivercross Hospice or the chartity of donor's choice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
