Jack Boucher, 90, of Burden, Kansas, passed away Thursday evening, October 15, 2020 at Wesley Medical Center.
Born January 1, 1930 in Douglass, Kansas, he was the son of Charles and Lena (Zurbuchen) Boucher. He was raised and received his education in Douglass graduating from Douglass High School. He worked as a farmhand for a few years before entering the United States Air Force in 1951. Jack proudly served his country for four years before receiving an honorable discharge.
Jack was united in marriage to Amelia "Amy" Schoenecker on October 8, 1959 in Miami, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Rose Hill. In 1967, the family moved to a farm near Burden. In addition to ranching and farming, Jack worked in the aircraft industry for most of his career. Later, Jack worked for Central Burden School District until 1994 when he retired to farm fulltime. Amy preceded him in death on September 20, 2010.
Jack was a member of the First Baptist Church of Burden. He enjoyed farming, ranching, being outdoors, and especially enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with family and friends.
His family includes his children: Jack C. Boucher and wife, Pam of Wichita; Jon Boucher of Burden; Kathy Van Zelfden and husband, Brian of Valley Center; Kay Pruitt and husband, Jim of Arizona; Bonita Hizar of Dodge City; his sisters, Martha Cody of Augusta; Ethel Rickard of Newton; his 17 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Jack was preceded in death by two sons, Dale Boucher and Gary Hizar, and eight siblings William Boucher, Henry Boucher, George Boucher, Virgil Boucher, Ruby Mahlandt, Eleanor Leap, Fred Boucher, and Ernest Boucher.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 26, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church of Burden. Interment and Military Committal Honors will follow at Highland Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at Miles Funeral Service for Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5 P.M.
A memorial has been established in Jack's name for the First Baptist Church of Burden. Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Service.
