J. Louise Scarth, 80, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Friday morning, February 10, 2017 at William Newton Hospital.
Louise was born October 24, 1936 in Southard, Oklahoma to Ralph Noah and Esther Amy (Lorenz) Reed. She went to school in Southard and Canton, Oklahoma through sixth grade. The family moved to Winfield in 1948. Louise graduated from Winfield High School in 1954.
On June 20, 1953, she married the love of her life, Frank Scarth. She got a job at Binney & Smith Crayola in 1955 and retired in 1997. Frank got his first teaching job at Clay Center, Kansas and the couple lived there from 1961 to 1966. In 1966, they returned to Winfield where Frank taught printing and Louise got her job back at Binney & Smith. They had three children, Cynthia, Michael and Gina.
Louise loved sports. She was an above average bowler and loved playing and watching tennis. KU was her favorite basketball team. Frank and Louise also went to St. Louis to watch the St. Louis Cardinals several times. She loved to travel until her health wouldn't allow it any longer. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Pepin, her husband of 60 years, Frank and a brother, Donald Reed.

Her children: Michael Scarth and wife, Brenda of Winfield; Gina Owen of Winfield;
Her 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren;
Her brothers: Jim Reed and wife, Sylvia; Alfred Reed and wife, Margaret; Alvin Reed and wife, Cindy;
Her sister: Virginia Lathers and husband, Ted; and
Her sister-in-law: Annabelle Reed.
Services will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Inurnment will follow at Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Memorials have been established in Louise's name for GracePointe Assembly of God Church and for T.H. Vaughn Tennis Courts. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
