J. Eleanor Patton, 79, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday morning, July 17, 2016 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

Born July 24, 1936 in Oxford, Kansas, she was the daughter of Lue and Elizabeth (Jackson) Berline. She was raised in rural Grant County, Oklahoma on a farm and received her education at Flint Country Grade School and graduated from Caldwell High School in 1954. Eleanor then attended William Newton Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1957.

She was united in marriage to Irvin Patton on September 14, 1957 in Caldwell, Kansas. The couple later divorced. Eleanor was employed at William Newton Memorial Hospital as a nurse for several years. She then worked at the Snyder Clinic and as a Surgical nurse for several local doctors. She finished her nursing career at Winfield Medical Arts as an office and surgical nurse.

Eleanor was baptized a member of the First Christian Church, and was a member of ANA, SNA and District 10 Nurses. She had a passion for taking care of her patients and her nursing duties. She especially loved all kinds of music, especially bluegrass and particularly enjoyed going to see Byron and Barry and Bart and Barry play. She enjoyed being around all of her friends and family and she played the organ at many friends' weddings.

Her sons: Barton Patton and wife, Sonja of Olathe; Barry Patton and wife, Rene of Winfield;
Her sister: Jan Byford of Edmond, OK;
Her brother: Byron Berline and wife, Bette of Guthrie, OK;
Her grandson: Cal Patton;
Step-grandsons: Josh Ames; Seth Klinger; Kevin Webb;
Step-granddaughter: Chelsea Sheldon and husband, Brian; Ryanne Webb; and
Great grandchildren: Logan; Stokes; Louie; and Elliott.

In addition to her parents and ex-husband, Eleanor was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Berline and a brother, Henry Berline and his wife, Beverly.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Private family burial will take place at a later date.

Memorials have been established in Eleanor's name for the First Christian Church and for the Eleanor Patton Memorial Nursing Scholarship Fund. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
