Obituary

Irma Lucille Shore, 91, of Burden, Kansas, passed away Wednesday morning, December 9, 2020 at her home.

Born March 28, 1929 in Smileyberg, Kansas, she was the daughter of Charles and Versie Ellen (Fleming) Stacy. She was raised and received her education in Rock, Kansas attending Dairy Ann Elementary School. At the age of 16, she moved to Winfield to live with her aunt and uncle. She began working at Pettit Cleaners in Winfield.

Irma was united in marriage to Robert V. "Bob" Shore on May 22, 1948 in Winfield. The couple made their home on the family farm in rural Burden, Kansas. In addition to sewing for her children, Irma did custom upholstery in her home and for Southwestern College. She also acted as a seamstress for the Flirts and Squirts Square Dancing Club, which she and Bob were members. She later worked on airplane upholstery for Cessna at Strother Field. She enjoyed her time working at Comfort Inn and Super 8 in Winfield as a hostess and helping with housekeeping. Bob preceded her in death on December 11, 2010.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Burden. She enjoyed dancing, going to concerts, and traveling. She loved canning and gardening. She especially enjoyed spending time with her great grandchildren.

Her family includes her children, Brenda Shore of Burden; Debbie Rowe of Nashville, TN; Robbie Shore and wife, Judy of Grenola; her brother Leroy Stacy and wife, Betty of Sedan; her grandchildren, Joey Smith and wife, Vanessa, Dustin Burks and wife, Angie, Aaron Rowe, Aiden Rowe, Justin Shore, Stacy Hand; her great grandchildren, Jody Smith, Reba Lucille Smith, Chris Hamby, Cassie Hamby, Ricki Burks, Halee Burks, and Chance Burks; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Irma was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Burden Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday evening, December 16, 2020 from 4 to 8. The family will greet visitors that evening.

A memorial has been established in Irma's name for Kindred Hospice in Winfield. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
