Irma (Atkinson) Scholfield, 89, passed peacefully away on Monday, December 11, 2017 after a well fought battle against old age.
Since February 25, 1928, Irma never wavered in her love for Winfield, where she was born, married, and raised two boys, Tony and Max. Happiest when being of service to others, Irma was a faithful servant of the Lord, and an accomplished wife, mother, musician, artist, seamstress, quilter, and farmer. Many throughout the region still enjoy the fruits of her labors and friendships today.
Irma was married on September 29, 1946 to Joe Leonard Scholfield, to whom she was wed for 63 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe, parents Fern (Snyder) Atkinson and Sanford Atkinson, brothers Glen and Neal Atkinson, her sister/cousin, Lavern Griffith, and her aunt Florence Buffum.
She is survived by:
Sons: Tony (Jeanine) Scholfield of Athol, ID; Max (Jennifer) Scholfield of Durango, CO;
Sister: Lois Hamilton of Newton, KS;
Sister/Cousin: Marilyn Buffum of Winfield, KS;
Grandchildren: Dustin Scholfield of Durango, CO; Tyler (Katie) Scholfield of Vienna, VA; Jennifer (Dan) Hohman of Ashland, OH; and William Joe (Jessica) Scholfield of Potlatch, ID; and
Great grandson: Jackson Scholfield.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 15, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Burial will follow at Tisdale Cemetery. A memorial will be held in the Mc Gregor Room downstairs at Cumbernauld Village, 716 N Tweed, Winfield following the graveside. Friends may call on Thursday evening, December 14, 2017 from 4 to 8 at the funeral home. The family will greet visitors from 4 to 6 that evening.
A memorial has been established in Irma's name for Easter Seals Capper Foundation. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
