Iris P. Jackson, 98, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Friday morning, January 1, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Village in Winfield.
Born August 14, 1911 in Burden, Kansas, she was the daughter of William and Effie (Moore) Foster. She was raised and received her education in Burden graduating from Burden High School. After high school she attended Pittsburgh State University where she received her teaching certificate.
Iris was united in marriage on April 30, 1932 to Harry O. "Hap" Jackson in Winfield, and the couple farmed in the Burden area until moving to Winfield in 1947. She was a fulltime homemaker in addition to working as a paper hanger, where she wall papered most of the homes in Winfield. Mr. Jackson preceded her in death on February 20, 1985.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Winfield. She enjoyed quilting, canning, gardening, and taking care of her elderly neighbors.

Her daughters: Dorothy Broce and husband, Bill of Lost Springs, KS; Joyce Askins and husband Ron of Shell Knob, MO;
Her daughter-in-law: Donna Jackson of Winfield;
Her 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 1 great- great grandchild.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her 2 sisters, 2 brothers, her son Kenneth Jackson, and a grandson, Cory Halligan.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Grand Prairie Cemetery in Burden. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Monday January 4, 2010 from 1:00 to 5:00 P.M.
A memorial has been established in Iris' name for Grace United Methodist Church or the charity of the donors choice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
