Obituary

Iris Mae Biddle, 91, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday evening, January 31, 2018, surrounded by her family, at Cumbernauld Village.

Born November 24, 1926 in Winfield, Kansas, she was the daughter of Morton and Jesse (Wainscott) Rush. She was raised and received her education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1945. After school, she began working for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as an operator.

Iris was united in marriage to Leonard Robert Biddle on February 1, 1948 in Winfield. The couple made their home in Winfield. Iris continued to work for Southwestern Bell for over 32 years, retiring in 1978 as the Chief Operator. She was a loving caretaker, caring for her mother and aunt. Mr. Biddle preceded her in death on December 27, 2000.

She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Winfield as well as the Order of the Eastern Star and the Telephone Pioneer Family. She enjoyed making stained glass pictures, sewing, fishing and caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Her family includes:
Her son:  Nathan Biddle and wife, Brenda of Winfield;
Her brother:  Eli Rush of Winfield;
Her sister-in-law:  Shirley Rush of Winfield;
Her grandchildren:  Rachel Rhodes and husband, Troy of Winfield; Shana McCorgary and husband, Aaron of Wichita; and Monica Beamer and husband, Richard of Winfield;
Her great grandchildren:  MaKayla, Caden, Norman, Kallie and Gracen Rhodes; Adrian, Sianna, Seneca, Ansen, Avram, Alijah "Bob", and Shylah Mae McCorgary; Owen, Alivia, and Alaina Beamer; and
Several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Iris was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne and John Rush, a sister, Lucia Rush and a great granddaughter, Ashlyn Rhodes.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, February 5, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5 P.M. The family will greet visitors during this time.

Memorials have been established in Iris' name for First Baptist Church, Cumbernauld Village and the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
