Imogene Long, 88, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday March 26, 2017 at her home.
Born May 27, 1928 in Washington Township, Ohio, she was the daughter of Clarence and Mary (Watts) Shroyer. Imogene attended school and graduated from Massillon High School in Ohio.
She was united in marriage to Thomas Long on September 4, 1950 in Massillon, Ohio. The couple made their home in Ohio. Imogene made a career as a homemaker, taking care of her husband, her children and helping take care of her grandchildren.
She and Tom were active members of St. Monica Catholic Church in Garfield Heights, Ohio. For a number of years they taught Catechism classes to children and pre-Cana classes for couples entering into marriage. She and Tom were involved in all aspects of their children's lives from PTA to proms, girl scouts, boy scouts, sports, and anything that had to with school. She always made sure her children and grandchildren had what they needed for their various activities. Sadly, her husband and love of her life Tom passed away on April 19, 1988.
Imogene moved to Winfield in 1999 to be with her daughter and son-in-law. While in Winfield, she was involved with the Senior Citizens Center, taking many trips. She also discovered a love for camping and took many camping trips with her family, traveling all over Colorado and going to the Grand Canyon. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Winfield.

Her grandchildren: Andrew Long, Charles Long, Bryan Whittet, Daniel Long, Krystya Long, John Long, Kiera Lipocky, Aidan Lipocky, Erin Horton, Alexander Horton, Cian Lipocky; and
Her great grandchildren: Demetri Long and Cassius Long.
Imogene was preceded in death by her parents Mary and Clarence Shroyer, her husband Thomas Long, her son, Jeffrey Long, and her great grandson, Eidolon Long.
Funeral mass will take place Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Name Catholic Church in Winfield, KS. A private memorial service and burial will be held at a later date at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Massillon, Ohio. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established in Imogene's name for Holy Name Catholic Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
