IMOGENE C. HAMLIN, 91, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2008 at Cumbernauld Village.
Born on February 28, 1917 in Osage County, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Washington MacDonald "Mac" and Lottie (Summers) Gardner. She was reared and educated in Osage County, five miles east of Ponca City. Imogene attended McCord and Ponca City schools.
She was united in marriage to Donald Lee Johnson on December 22, 1934 in Newkirk, Oklahoma. To this union, two children were born, Donald Lee Johnson, Jr., and Susan Elizabeth Johnson. The couple later divorced.
On June 16, 1950, Imogene married Clarence B. Hamlin in Wellington, Kansas. To this union, two children were born; Steven C. Hamlin and James E. Hamlin. The couple lived in Winfield. Mr. Hamlin preceded her in death on November 22, 1999.
Imogene worked as a practical nurse at St. Mary's Hospital, William Newton Hospital and in private nursing in Winfield. She retired in 1982. She was a member of Grandview United Methodist Church. She enjoyed visiting with people and preparing family meals, traveling to Skeedee, Oklahoma and visiting with her sisters and mother, and also like talking on the telephone. She enjoyed watching soap operas, listening to country swing music and was an avid reader in her younger years,

Her great-great grandchildren: Sydney McCormick, Brooklyn Underwood and Cadence Minard of Chickasha, OK; Kayley Pece, Kimberly Pece, and Leonard Pece of Oklahoma City, OK; and
Many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Imogene was preceded in death by her son, Donald Lee Johnson, Jr., her sisters, Faye Dunlap, Josephine Ballew, Vanetta "Rosie" Martin, and Agnes "Bill" Johnson, and her brothers, Joe Gardner, Loyd Gardner and Emmert Gardner.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 to 9 P.M. The family will greet friends from 6 to 7:30 that evening.
