ILA VIRGINIA HORTON MORGAN, 90, Marietta, Georgia and former Winfield, Kansas resident, passed away Tuesday evening, December 22, 2009 in Marietta.
Born on October 23, 1919 in Burden, Kansas, she was the daughter of Grover Cleveland and Blanche Almedia (Biddle) Brister. She was raised in Floral, Kansas and received her education in Winfield.
She was united in marriage to W.H. "Shorty" Horton on October 21, 1937 in Lyons, Kansas and the couple made their home in Winfield. She was employed at the Snyder Clinic in Winfield as a physical therapist and retired in 1976.
Mr. Horton preceded her in death on May 7, 1977. Virginia remarried in 1989 and lived in California with her husband Walter Morgan, until his death in 2000. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Frances Horton. Virginia moved to Marietta in 2006 to be closer to family.
Virginia was a member of the First Baptist Church in Winfield. She loved spending time with her family and took great pleasure in being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her daughter: Cynthia Wheeler and husband Terry of Marietta, GA;
Her brother: Bill Brister and wife Evelyn of Ostrander, WA;
Her sister: Claudine Fife and husband Jerald of Winfield, KS;
Her grandchildren: Denise Horton, Bill Horton, Ryan Gillen, Sarah Gillen-Lezinsky and Patrick Gillen; and
Her great-grandchildren: Joshua & Melissa Garner; Will, Calvin & Colby Horton; Austen, Brady & Riley Gillen; and Eve Lezinsky.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Frances Horton.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at the Floral Cemetery, northeast of Winfield. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Monday, December 28, 2009. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M., that evening
