IDA FOSTER, 82, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Monday morning, March 24, 2008 at her home.

Born on October 7, 1925 in Lakewood, New Jersey, she was the daughter of Earl Martin and Elsie Davis (Roark) Spangler. As a young child she moved with her family to Chester, Pennsylvania. They later moved to Kansas and Ida graduated from Lawrence High School in 1944.

She was united in marriage to George Freeburg on May 18, 1946 in Newton, Kansas. She was employed as a waitress for a short time before becoming a fulltime homemaker. In 1972, Ida was employed at the Presbyterian Manor in Newton as a Certified Nurses Aide. She retired in 1995 and moved to Winfield.

Ida enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, embroidery, gardening and flowers.

Her family includes:
Her daughters: Sherri Ann Humbert and husband Harry L. of Winfield, KS; and Lola Elaine Martin and husband Marshall of Winfield, KS;
Her grandchildren: Scott Humbert, Heather Lumbert, Shelley Jones and Dawnya Sorg;
Her great-grandchildren: Ashton Humbert, Waylon Lumbert, Richard Boomershine, Amber Boomershine, Philicia Swanson, Cameron Sorg, Alena Sorg and Adrianne Marie White; and
A host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Gary Allen Freeburg; her brother, Clinton Marten and her sisters, Edna Peters and Kathleen Gibson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, March 27, 2008 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 26, 2008. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M., that evening.

A memorial has been established in Ida's name American Cancer Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
