HOWARD HAMON, 79, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday morning, January 8, 2013 at the Robert Dole VA Medical Center in Wichita.
Born March 7, 1933 in Winfield, he was the son of Nathaniel and Flora "Corrine" (Patterson) Hamon. He was raised and received his education in Winfield. As a young man, Howard worked on farms, the railroad and in the oil fields.
He worked for William Newton Hospital in housekeeping for almost 30 years before retiring.

His sisters: Betty "Joan" Andes of Winfield; and Ethel M. Pate of Colorado Springs, CO;
His niece: Belinda Turner and husband, Tom of Winfield;
His great niece: Jaclyn Overbey and husband, Brian of Winfield; and
His 3 nephews.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents.
Private Graveside services will be held at a later date at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Sunday, January 13, 2013 from 2 to 5 P.M. The family will greet friends from 2 to 4 that afternoon.
Memorials have been established in Howard's name for the American Diabetes Association and for the American Legion Post #10. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
