Obituary

HOPE K. (McPHERSON) COLLIER, 36, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Monday morning, March 16, 2009 at her home.

Born February 20, 1973 in Coffeyville, Kansas, she was the daughter of Larry Dean and Gayle (Horn) McPherson. She was raised and educated in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1991. She went on to further her education at Cowley County Community College and Ottawa University and received her Master's Degree in Human Resources from Rockhurst University in Kansas City.

As a younger woman, Hope worked as the manager for Silverwood Apartments in Winfield and at Mid-Cap. She was most recently working for Concept Solutions in the Department of Transportation.

Hope was united in marriage to Charles Collier on November 19, 2005. The couple made their home in Overland Park, Kansas.

She loved coaching and playing basketball. She was a MAYB coach and also coached sixth and seventh grade girls' basketball. She played basketball for Cowley College and for Ottawa University and was an avid KU basketball fan. She was a friend to many and was always mentoring someone. She loved her children and loved spending time with them.

Her children: Aaron Dean McPherson, Andrue James Gill-McPherson, and Gabrielle Charlene Reed-McPherson all of the home;
Her father and mother: Larry and Gayle McPherson of Winfield;
Her brothers: Gerald Lynn McPherson of Winfield; and Phillip Marshall of Wichita;
Her sister: Jennifer Nicole McPherson of Homestead, FL;
Her paternal grandmother: Pamona McPherson of Hudson, CO;
Her maternal grandmother: Marjorie Horn of Winfield; and
A host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Eunice Smith.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 20, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield, Kansas. Interment will follow at Union Graham Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6 to 9. The family will greet visitors from 6 to 7 that evening.

An education fund for Hope's children has been established at Cornerbank in Winfield. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
