Hershel "Allen"
Pike

Miles Funeral Service
10:00 - 11:00 am (Central time)
Hershel Allen Pike (most people just knew him as Allen), of Peculiar, Missouri, born August 5th, 1957, passed away on July 1, 2026, at the age of 68.
Allen spent much of his life in Winfield, Kansas, where he was raised and educated. He was the son of Treva (Prier) Black and George Pike. He was raised by Treva and Lewis “Ludy” Black, who helped shape his younger years and the path he took in life.
Allen always approached his work life with diligence. Early on, he worked in the oil fields of southern Kansas and northern Oklahoma, gaining the kind of experience that comes from long days and hard work. He spent the majority of his career in the manufactured housing industry, taking him to numerous locales across the country, where he worked in management before using his knowledge and experience to build a small business of his own. After a long career, he eventually retired to SE Texas, and later to NW Missouri.
Although Kansas was home for much of his life, Allen’s heart belonged to Texas. Like any proud Texan, he was always ready to let you know it. He carried that pride with him and was never short on an opinion about why Texas was just a little bit better.
Allen was known for his strong personality, unique sense of humor, and generous heart. He had a way of making an impression, and those who knew him best understood the many sides that made him who he was. He valued the relationships he built throughout his life and leaves behind many memories with those who knew him best.
He enjoyed the simple things in life: fishing, barbecue, tending his garden, and spending time outdoors. He found satisfaction in working with his hands, sharing a good meal, and doing things in his own way.
Allen is survived by his children, Brian Pike and his wife, Sara, of Peculiar, Missouri; Jessica Pike of Udall, Kansas; and Jason Pike and his wife, Sylvia, of Winfield, Kansas. He is also survived by LaShauna Quarles, Letitia Quarles, and Jeffery Price, who were important parts of his life and family. He leaves behind his granddaughter, Payton Tickel of Udall, Kansas.
Allen is also survived by his sister, Evelyn Price and her husband, Rick of Winfield, Kansas, as well as several siblings in Northern Indiana. He was preceded in death by his mother, Treva (Prier) Black; George Pike; Lewis “Ludy” Black; and his siblings Kenneth Black, Steven Black, as well as a few siblings in the Chicago, Il area.
Allen will be remembered for his strong personality, his humor, his love for family, his tireless pride in Texas, and the lasting impact he had on the people who knew him.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Miles Funeral Service. Private interment will take place at a later date.
A memorial has been established in Allen’s name for CASA of Cowley County. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
