Helen B. Vaughn Hodges, 90, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday morning, October 24, 2019 at her home.

Born October 26, 1928 in Winfield, Kansas, she was the daughter of William A. and Agnes (Mulcahy) Vaughn. She was raised and received her education in Winfield. After high school Helen attended Cowley County Community College.

Helen began her career as a bookkeeper working for Everett Lumber Company in Winfield. Over her career she worked for several area businesses including, Winfield State Hospital and Training Center, Struthers Thermo Flood, and Binney and Smith. She retired from Binney and Smith in 1994. She was a Lifelong member of Holy Name Catholic Church, and the Altar Society in Winfield. She enjoyed quilting, decorating, and attending her grandchildren's sporting events. She was well known for helping her family with many remodeling projects.

Her family includes her daughters, Christina Gardner Todd and husband, Larry of Arkansas City; Cindy Miller Suttles and husband, Bob of Winfield; Mary Miller Goodwin and fiancé, Keith Mallatt of Pittsburg; her grandchildren, Craig Gardner, Michelle Gardner Bergkamp, Melanie Burnett Pouland, Rachel Ann Gardner Nicks, AnnDee Gardner, Zane Womack, Jesse Fuentes, Tamie Mora Booth, Tanya Mora Lord, Terie Mora, David Todd, Charley Todd, Robby Suttles, Ryan Suttles, Kelly Suttles Graber, Rachel Elrod Price, Lindsay Elrod Wood, Melissa Elrod Noles, and Tyler Goodwin; and her 40 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents Helen was preceded in death by two sons, Michael L. Gardner and John W. Gardner, three brothers, William L. Vaughn, Raymond Vaughn, and Thomas Howard Vaughn, an infant brother Richard Vaughn, her sister Mary Catherine Vaughn Kent, and her first great grandchild Spencer Mora Lord.

A Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Winfield. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at the church.

A memorial has been established in Helen's name for Holy Name Catholic School.
