Obituary

Helen "Louise" Osborn, 83, of Burden, Kansas, passed away Monday morning, June 5, 2017 at her home.

Born December 8, 1933 in Atlanta, Kansas, she was the daughter of Ray Harold and Jennie Mabel (Moss) Smith. She was raised in the Timbercreek Community where she attended rural country schools. The family later moved to Burden and Louise graduated from Burden High School in 1951.

She was united in marriage to Vernon LeRoy Osborn on November 24, 1951 in the First Baptist Church of Burden. The couple made their lifelong home, farming and ranching in Burden. Louise spent the majority of her life as a homemaker. She was also a dedicated 4-H Leader as well as worked as a cook for USD 462 in Burden. LeRoy preceded her in death on May 16, 2010.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Burden, serving as a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She enjoyed gardening, feeding bucket calves, raising sheep, cooking and was an avid KU fan. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Her great grandchildren: Taven Osborn, Cash Schroeder, Taylor, Tinley and Tristin Osborn, Brett Benest, Cooper and Cannon King, Layla and Londyn L'Hommedieu, Brayton and Beckett Shaffer, Lane Phillips, Mikala and Jakob Thomas, Ella, Ava and Miles Blue, Sheldon, Nevaeh, Kamdon Jordan, Conner and Kara Jordan.

In addition to her parents and husband, Louise was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Jimmy Hiatt and her daughter-in-law, Marcia Osborn.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 9, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at the Burden Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 4 to 8. The family will greet visitors from 6 to 8 that evening.

Memorials have been established in Louise's name for the First Baptist Church of Burden, Burden Fire Department and Samaritan's Purse. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
