Obituary

Helen Maxine Horner, 89, of Russellville, Arkansas, passed away early Thursday morning, July 28, 2016 at Stella Manor in Russellville.

Born June 22, 1927 in Pratt, Kansas, she was the daughter of Bryan Jennings and Nellie Irene (Hayworth) Scarbrough. She was raised and received her education in Pratt. Maxine was united in marriage to Jack J. Horner on April 17, 1947 in Pratt. The couple made their first home in Pratt and later lived in Coats, Udall and Winfield, Kansas. Maxine made her lifelong career as a homemaker. Mr. Horner preceded her in death on November 12, 2004.

Maxine was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Udall and later in Winfield. She was also a member of the Lorraine Chapter Order of the Eastern Star in Coats, Kansas and the Cooperettes in Udall, Kansas.

Her family includes:
Her son: Nicholas J. Horner and wife, Keven of Russellville, AR;
Her sister: Joyce Bruse of Pratt;
Her grandchildren: Brian Horner, Brad Horner, Jacy Taylor, Kaly Helms;
Her great grandchildren: Abby Meadows, Madelyn Helms and Brennan Helms; and
Her great-great granddaughter: Brenna Martinez.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 1, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at the Udall First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Udall Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Sunday afternoon from 2 to 5 P.M.

Memorials have been established in Maxine's name for the First United Methodist Church of Udall and for the American Alzheimer's Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
