She became a member of the Daughters of the King Episcopal prayer order in 1952 at St. Columb's Episcopal Church, was the driving force behind chartering a chapter at Grace Episcopal Church in Winfield and was an active member until her death.
A licensed social worker, Helen coordinated services for elders in a five-county area for the Mississippi Planning and Development Commission until her retirement at age 77. Helen was a longtime member of the Jackson, Miss., Business and Professional Women and was named Woman of the Year.
