Helen Louise Buck, 83, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday evening, June 3, 2015 at William Newton Hospital in Winfield.
Ms. Buck was born May 13, 1932 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to Charles Calvin and Louise (Kimsey) Sturm. She graduated from Winfield High School in 1950.
On September 8, 1950 she married Jimmie A. Buck. The couple later divorced.
During her early work career, Helen worked 13 years at the ASCS office in the administrative and conservation areas. She then worked 20 years for Cessna Aircraft at Strother Field and in Wichita. She held positions as Delivery Center Clerk, Scheduling Coordinator and was Secretary to three plant managers. While working at Cessna she obtained her private pilot's license. After the layoff in 1987 from Cessna, she began employment with the State of Kansas SRS. During the time she was employed at SRS, she worked as a clerk, a case worker and at the time of retirement, had held the position of legal secretary for four years. She retired in 1997.
Ms. Buck was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Helen loved people and probably never met a stranger. She liked sewing, quilting, crafting, yard sales, auctions, gambling and working on high school class reunions.

Her companion of many years: Kennith E. Terrell of Winfield;
Her son: Mark A. Buck and wife, Cindi of Topeka;
Her sister: Pamela Sturm and husband, Kent Elliot of Kansas City; and
Her two grandchildren: Rachel and Elliot Buck.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Buck was preceded in death by her brother, Frank Sturm.
Graveside memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at Highland Cemetery in Winfield. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established in Helen's name for the Winfield Food Pantry. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
