HELEN "DARLEEN" BENKE, 83, of Ponca City, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday night, July 31, 2013 at the Ponca City Medical Center.

Born July 19, 1930 in Atlanta, Kansas, she was the daughter of Lacel and Helen (Robertson) Moss. She was raised and educated in Atlanta, graduating from Atlanta High School.

Darleen worked at the Winfield City Office and at various nursing homes as a nurses' aide. She last worked at the Wellington City Office as a receptionist.

She enjoyed shopping and going to garage sales.

Her family includes:
Her daughter: Sylvia Bryant of Ponca City, OK;
Her son-in-law: Ken Jarboe of Ponca City, OK;
Her sister: Barbara Allen of Mound Valley, KS;
Her grandchildren: Kristel Bryant-McCorkle and Jason "J.B." Bryant;
Her great grandchildren: Jessica Albers, Gabrielle Albers, Colby McCorkle, and Sky Bryant; and
Her niece: Belinda Allen.

Darleen was preceded in death by her parents, Lacel and Helen, her daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Dennis Giddens, and her granddaughter, Jennifer Giddens.

Cremation has taken place and private family inurnment will take place at a later date. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

A Memorial has been established in Darleen's name for the Humane Society of the donor's choice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
