HELEN L. BECKHAM, 84, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Friday morning, November 13, 2009 at Winfield Rest Haven.

Born December 28, 1924 in Perry, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Emil and Carrie (Garrett) Lau. She was raised and received her education in Perry.

Helen was united in marriage to Ben Beckham, Jr. on June 19, 1942 in Enid, Oklahoma. The couple made their first home in Perry, Oklahoma and moved to Winfield in 1951. Helen made her career as a homemaker, taking care of her family, but also worked part time for Graves Drug Store for a number of years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winfield, and enjoyed gardening and bowling in her younger years. Mr. Beckham preceded her in death on June 12, 1988.

Her family includes:
Her son: Henry Enid Beckham of Winfield;
Her daughters: Betty Jo Miller and husband, Ron of the Lake of the Ozarks, MO; and Mary Ann Watson of Winfield;
Her 7 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sisters, Katherine, Lillie, Eveline, Ethel, and Jessie.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Monday, November 16, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Grace Hill Cemetery in Perry, Oklahoma. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

A Memorial has been established in Mrs. Beckham's name for Winfield Rest Haven. Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Service.
