Hazel Braungardt, 82, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Monday evening, September 16, 2024, at Winfield Rest Haven.
Born May 1, 1942 in Winfield, she was the daughter of Lloyd and Lela Grace (Wilson) Morgan. She was raised and received her education in Atlanta, graduating from Atlanta High School in 1960.
She was married to Jerry Wilson in 1959. The couple had three children and later divorced. Hazel made her career with Boeing Aircraft for over 25 years, retiring as an Inspector. In 1980, she was briefly married to Scott Braungardt. She was a member of Prairie View United Methodist Church. She was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and enjoyed going to Chief's games, crafting, crocheting, gardening, and collecting clowns, especially Emmett Kellys.
Her family includes her children, Lesa Kent of Burden; Billy J. Wilson and wife, Melanie of Oxford; her brother Gary Morgan and wife, Sandee of Colorado; her grandchildren, Jesse Kent and wife Cassy of Mulvane; Amy Herron and husband, Scott of Kellyville, OK; Jamie Wilson of Mulvane; Valerie Wilson of Wichita; Elisha Ybarra and husband, Jesse of Loveland, CO; Derek Wilson and wife, Mitzi of Independence, MO; Samantha Marque and husband, Erin of Winfield; Candice Wilson of Wichita; and her 23 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by a son Tony Lee Wilson and a son-in-law Mark Kent.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, September 20, 2024, at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Wilmot Cemetery. Attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite football team attire. A visitation is scheduled from 5 to 7 P.M. on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at the funeral home.
A memorial has been established in Hazel's name for the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
