Obituary

Harvey Dale Howard, 78, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday morning, July 25, 2024, at his home.

Dale was born November 6, 1945, in Iola, Kansas.  He graduated high school and later received his Bachelor degree in American History and Literature.  He joined the United States Marines and proudly served three tours in Vietnam, before receiving an honorable discharge.

Dale enjoyed a brief career as a bull rider, taught school for a couple years, and later worked as an electrician.  He lived in San Antonio for 40 years.  It was there that he met his wife, Carole Middleton.  The couple also lived 16 years in Colorado Springs before moving to Winfield for the last two years.

He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and watching cowboy shows and movies.  He loved reading anything regarding historical events.

His family includes his wife Carole Middleton of Winfield; his step-sons, Michael Skinner and David Skinner; his grandchildren, Kayleigh (Jordan) Myers, Matthew Stein, Stephanie Owens, Dylan Skinner, and Presley Skinner; and his great grandson Jettson Myers.

Dale was preceded in death by his daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Michael Stein.

The family will hold private memorial services at a later date.

A memorial has been established in Dale's name for the Winfield Food Pantry.  Contributions  may be made through Miles Funeral Service.
