Harvey Lewis Bowlby, 74, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2019 at William Newton Hospital.

Born September 7, 1945 in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of Henry "Otho" and Vera Marie (Carpenter) Bowlby.  He was raised and received his education in Winfield and Udall, graduating from Udall High School in 1963.

Harvey was united in marriage to Linda Butler on June 4, 1966 in Winfield.  The couple made their first home in Winfield before moving to San Diego, California where Harvey was stationed with the United States Navy. Following his honorable discharge, the couple returned to Winfield. Harvey began working for Binney and Smith in Winfield and later worked at Wheeler IGA. He then began his career as a welder at Fluid Kinetics where he remained for almost 30 years before finishing his career at Galaxy Tool. Harvey retired from Galaxy Tool to fulfill his lifelong ambition of becoming a peanut farmer.

He enjoyed yardwork, fishing, working on his hotrod, telling stories, watching old westerns, peanut farming and chicken farming. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and his little dog Sophie.

His family includes his wife Linda Bowlby of Winfield; his daughter Kendra Baker and husband, Rodney of Winfield; his son Chris Bowlby and wife, Colette of Winfield; his sisters, Ima Jean Ploof and husband, Duane of Winfield; Mary Ellen Taylor and husband, Max of Winfield; his brother Harry Bowlby and wife, Judy of Idaho Falls, Idaho; his grandchildren, Dillan; Chase; Paige; Mikey; Megan; Coda; Ryker; and his great grandson Finn.

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, October 11, 2019, at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home on Thursday evening, October 10, 2019 from 4 to 8. The family will greet visitors from 4 to 6 that evening.

A memorial has been established in Harvey's name for the Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
