Obituary

Harry Albert "Hap" Stucky, 95, of Winfield, Kansas, formerly of Wellington, passed away early Monday morning, February 6, 2017 at the Kansas Veterans Home.

Born September 28, 1921 in Murdock, Kansas, he was the son of Henry and Wilma (Johnson) Stucky. He was raised and received his education in Murdock and Olathe, Kansas. Hap joined the United States Coast Guard on March 25, 1942 and proudly served his country during WWII until his honorable discharge on November 19, 1945.

He married Katherine Mills on January 22, 1944 and the couple had a son, Mark. They later divorced. Hap was united in marriage to Josephine R. Charboneau on January 4, 1979 in Wellington. The couple made their home on Hap's farm southeast of Wellington. Hap loved farming and was also a mule man. He was known all over for breaking mules and his veterinary advice. Mr. Stucky retired from farming in 1994 and the couple moved into Wellington until July of 2016 when they moved to the Kansas Veterans Home in Winfield. Hap loved to play music with friends. He was multi-talented, playing the trombone, harmonica, concertina, accordion and many other instruments.

His wife: Josephine Stucky of Winfield;
His son: Mark Stucky and wife, Marina of Glastonbury, CT;
His step-son: David Parsons of Derby;
His step-daughters: Claudia Satterlee of Winfield; Katherine Hensley of Mulvane;
His brother: Robert Stucky of El Dorado; and
His 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Hap was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Stucky.

Graveside funeral services and Military Committal Honors will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Tuesday evening from 4 to 8 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Hap's name for the Disabled American Veterans. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
