Obituary

HAROLD M. PETERS, 90, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday afternoon, December 31, 2011 at Cumbernauld Village.

Born October 16, 1921 on a farm near Ashton, Kansas, he was the son of Henry and Barbara (Wolf) Peters. He was raised on the family farm near Geuda Springs and attended Geuda Springs schools.

Harold was inducted to the United States Army on July 24, 1942. He served as a gun crewman for field artilliary during WWII. He was honorably discharged on October 5, 1945.

Mr. Peters was united in marriage to Virginia Quisenberry on May 8, 1944 in Wellington, Kansas. The couple made their home on the family farm near Geuda Springs. Harold was a lifetime farmer. He was also a mill worker at McDaniel Grain in Geuda Springs.

He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #1254 and the American Legion. He loved his God, his family and his country.

His family includes:
His sons: Steven Peters and wife, Mayleen of Waxahachie, Texas; and Robert Peters of Bedford, Texas;
His daughter: Louise Hostetter and husband, Marvin of Winfield;
His sister: Ermaline Cochran of Ione, California;
His grandchildren: Wade Crain and family of St. George, KS; Amy White and family of Winfield, KS; Teresa Holloway and family of Arkansas City, KS; Mike Peters and family of Geuda Springs, KS; Jerrod Peters who is currently working overseas; Traci Brooks of Malakoss, Texas; and Amanda Hostetter, deceased; and
His 14 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and granddaughter, Harold was preceded by 7 brothers and 2 sisters.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, north of Arkansas City.

Memorials have been established in Mr. Peters' name for Cumbernauld Village and for Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
