HAROLD ARTHUR MUNSON, 73, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at his home in Winfield.

Born on September 17, 1937 in Stroud, Oklahoma, he was the son of Arthur Harold and Ethel Ellen (Taylor) Munson. He attended Salt Creek, Pleasant Mound and Stroud schools and graduated from Stroud High School in 1957. Following graduation Harold worked on area farms.

Harold served in the United States Air Force from 1958 until 1961 and was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas, California and later Greenland. While in California he also worked on various farms. Following his honorable discharge he moved to Kansas where he delivered milk and worked in the oilfields for a short time. In 1962 he began employment at Gott Manufacturing where he was a supervisor.

Harold was united in marriage to Linda Anderson in May of 1964 in Winfield, Kansas. The couple later divorced.

He was united in marriage on July 10, 1971 to Ann R. McKeever in Winfield. Harold retired from Rubbermaid in 1990. He loved teaching his grandchildren the old ways of farm life such as growing cotton and grapes and working the hayfields. He also enjoyed lawn work, carpentry and Sonic burgers.

His brothers: Ray Munson and wife Phyllis, Roy Munson and wife Neta, and Carl Munson and wife Clarissa, all of Stroud, OK;
His sisters: Ruth Reno and husband Daryl of Stroud, OK; Colene Berry and husband Ronnie of Chandler, OK; Betty Munson of Chandler, OK; Minnie Munson of Winfield, KS; and Helen Cook of Wellington, KS;
His grandchildren: Joel, Kristina, Janelle, Dalton, Kaycee, Hunter, Hayden, Howard Jr., Karla, James, Jacque, Brandon, Brandy and Christa; and
His great-grandchildren: Eddie Jr., Destany, Alexis, Devon, Thomas, Zachary, Damien and Dakota.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughters, Jacqueline DeVaughn and Terry Halstead, and his sisters, Hazel and Vera Irene Munson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, October 18, 2010 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Military committal honors will follow at the Atlanta Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:00 to 6:00 P.M., Sunday, October 17, 2010. The family will greet friends from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M., that afternoon.

A memorial has been established in Harold's name for Central of Burden #462 Education Fund c/o the Legacy Foundation. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
