Harold L. Keesey, 87, of Burden, Kansas, passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 06, 2011 at the Kansas Medical Center in Andover.
Born December 22, 1923 in New Salem, Kansas, he was the son of Claude and Mary (Thomas) Keesey. He was raised and received his education in the New Salem area.
Harold was united in marriage to Dorothy (Cain) Swope on June 03, 1966 in Burden, Kansas. The couple made their home and farmed in the Burden area their entire life. He enjoyed the outdoors and his pets.

His stepson: Steven Swope, and wife Donna of Arkansas City;
His sisters: Clayetta Kleist of Lake Tapawingo, MO; Thelma Johnson, and husband Marvin of Freemont, NE;
His grandchildren: Jotham LaPorte, and wife Ellie of Ringgold, GA; Catrina Zielinski, and husband Mike of Semi Valley, CA; Thaddeus LaPorte and wife, Jessica of Burden; Nicole Lewis of Burden; Chase LaPorte of Ft. Riley; and
His 5 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents Harold was preceded in death by 3 brothers, 1 sister, and a grandson.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, April 11, 2011 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Inurnment will follow at New Salem Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday April 10, 2011 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. The family will greet visitors at that time.
A memorial has been established in Harold's name for the Future Farmers of America, Burden Chapter.
