Harold Dean
Capps, Jr.
December 3, 1963 – July 29, 2019
Harold Dean Capps, Jr., 55, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Monday evening, July 29, 2019 at William Newton Hospital.
Born December 3, 1963 in Arkansas City, Kansas, he was the son of Harold D., Sr. and Thelma Marie (Biddle) Capps. He was raised and received his education in Lakin, Kansas before moving with his family to Wellington his junior year of high school. He graduated from Wellington High School in 1982. After high school, he joined the National Guard and proudly served his country.
Harold met and married Linda Overbey in May of 1989. To this union, four children were born. The couple later divorced. Harold spent most of his life in Cowley and Butler County and always considered Winfield his home. He worked several jobs including farming, working in the oil fields, working at the grain elevator, construction, and working as a heavy equipment operator. He spent most of his life in the construction field as an independent contractor. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and being an outlaw.
His family includes his sons, Christopher Robertson and wife, Candice of Dexter; Zachary Capps and wife, Jessi of Ponca City, OK; Garrett Capps and wife, Kylie of Eufaula, OK; Cooper Capps of Eufaula, OK; his sisters Marie Taylor and husband, Sam of Belle Plaine; Sue Capps of Eureka; Janice Land and husband, Doug of Smithfield, NC; and his grandchildren, Hannah, Alysa, Xander, William, Breckin, Colton, Kempir, Jaxon, Joy-Lynn, Athena, Isabella, and Jaxon.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Thelma Capps.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, August 5, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Inurnment will follow at Oxford Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in Harold's name for the American Diabetes Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
