Obituary

Gwendolyn L. Fox, 83, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Thursday afternoon, December 16, 2021, at Medicalodges of Oxford.

Born January 15, 1938, in Winfield, she was the daughter of Kenneth L. and Gladys (Anderson) Day. She was raised and received her education in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School in 1956. During high school and shortly after, she worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell.

Gwen was united in marriage to Ralph Fox on May 23, 1958, at the First Christian Church in Winfield. The couple made their home in Winfield where Gwen worked as a receptionist at Snyder Clinic for over 17 years. She then worked in insurance for Brad Swanson at Winfield Chiropractic for 20 years before taking over as the bookkeeper for Rural Water District 2, where she remained until retiring.

She was a member of Cornerstone Bible Fellowship Church, Winfield Saddle Club, and the Hypatia Club. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, painting, attending bible studies and all animals. She started Horses For Jesus an organization designed to teach horse riding and bible studies. She and Ralph also raised and showed Paint Horses, taking them all over the country winning many awards.

Her family includes her husband, Ralph Fox of Winfield; her son Troy Fox and wife, Bridget of McPherson; her sister Patty Dust of Winfield; her sister-in-law Carole Day of Winfield; her brother-in-law Raymond Fox of Winfield; her grandchildren, Jackson and Jaden Fox, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Gwen was preceded in death by a son Darryl Fox, a sister Shirley Day, brother Kenneth G. Day, and 2 brothers-in-law, Ronald Dust and Donald Fox, and 2 sisters-in-law, Opal Helms and Ernestine Morland.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 5 to 6 that evening.

Memorials have been established in Gwen's name for Cornerstone Bible Fellowship Church and for RiverCross Hospice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
