Guy "Bert" Martin, 71, of Dexter, Kansas, passed away Thursday evening, August 15, 2013, at Medicalodges in Arkansas City, Kansas.
Born April 5, 1942 in rural Dexter, Kansas he was the son of William Raymond and Marie Maude (Eastman) Martin. He was raised and received his education south of Dexter, graduating from Dexter High School in 1960. After school he began working as a farmer and rancher in the Dexter area. In the early 1960s he started his own farm north of Dexter.
Bert was united in marriage to Donna Gay Feaster on April 28, 1967 in Norman, Oklahoma. The couple made their home on the family's farm north of Dexter. In 1971 Bert began working at Gott in Winfield, where he remained for almost 20 years until retiring to continue ranching. In 1992 the family moved across Grouse Creek and established Turkey Creek Cattle, which they continue today.
He was a member of Hicks Chapel Church, Winfield Saddle Club, Kansas Livestock Association, and Cowley County Livestock Association. He enjoyed ranching, raising Paint Horses, and doing mechanical work. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

His sisters: Cleota Sherwood and husband, Ross of Silverdale; Freda Hite and husband, Kenneth of Fulton, TX;
His sisters-in-law: Bonnie Martin of Nebraska; Sharon Martin of Oklahoma;
His grandchildren: Brittney Samms, Tyler Martin, Aaron Butler, Sammi Wallace, Bryant Martin, Ayla Butler, Dustin Lawrence, Micah Thom, Samuel Butler, Riley Thom, Wade Martin and Wyatt Martin;
His great grandchildren: Addison, Hadlee and Paisley Samms; and
Many nephews and nieces.
In addition to his parents, Bert was preceded in death by his brothers, Ray and Haskill Martin, his grandson Justin Martin and his nephew, Randy Sherwood.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at the Dexter Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday evening, August 19 from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 4 to 7 that evening.
A Memorial has been established in Mr. Martin's name for an Endowment fund through Legacy. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
