Grace Lowe, 106, formerly of Burden, died on October 5, 2019 at Cumbernauld Village in Winfield.
Mrs. Lowe was born on June 13, 1913 on a farm southeast of Atlanta, Kansas, to Claude and Georgia (Bright) Womacks. She received her early education at Baltimore district grade school and graduated from Atlanta High School in 1931. After graduation, she worked in a combined café-grocery store and the bank.
Grace and Floyd L. "Bud" Lowe were married on October 22, 1933 in Winfield. During the 73 years they lived on their farm in rural Burden, Mrs. Lowe did lots of cooking and helped with chores and drove a truck and hauled grain for over 60 years. She belonged to many organizations including the Elks Auxiliary and Cowbells. Grace was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Her hobbies included cooking, camping, watching TV and shopping.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Phyllis Sigler; three brothers, Eugene Womacks, Donald Womacks, and S.C. Womacks; son-in law, JC Kunneman and grandson-in-law Philip Hammer.
Survivors include her daughters Jacquelyn and husband Ralph Russell of Winfield; and Janyth Kunneman of Okarche, OK; her grandchildren and their spouses, Janna and Larry Nichols of Tulsa, OK; Kayla Hammer of Panhandle, TX; Kyle and Debbie Russell of Derby; Lance and Donna Kunneman of Okarche, OK; great-grandchildren Kelby Nichols, Avery and Sara Nichols, Sarah and Andrew Harlan, Travis and Jacy Hammer, Adam and Heather Russell, Erik Russell, Lauren Russell, Macy Kunneman, Zac and Brook Kunneman; and great-great granddaughter, McKenna.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 10, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established at the First Presbyterian Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
