GLADYS F. HILL, 57, of Geuda Springs, Kansas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday afternoon, January 17, 2012 at her home.
Born on April 20, 1954 she was the daughter of Homer and Garnet (Wakefield) Hill. She was raised on a farm near Rock and received her education in Udall.
She was united in marriage to Kevin Smith. To this union two children were born, Kevin and Tara. The couple later divorced. She later married Ron Hunt who predeceased her.
She had been employed for Oxford USD #358 since the early 1990's where she served in many capacities including maintenance, the lunch room and a teacher's aide.
Gladys was a member of the United States Humane Society, ASPCA, Easter Seals, and the American Bible Society. She also supported the American Cancer Society, National Children's Cancer Society, Guiding Eyes, Feed the Children, the National Veteran's Foundation, and the St. Landed Indian School. She enjoyed gardening, animals, reading the Bible, and attending auctions.

Her son: Kevin Smith and wife Shannon of Geuda Springs, KS;
Her daughter: Tara Lacic and husband Chad of Fate, TX;
Her brother: Clark Hill and wife Heidi of Cedar Vale, KS;
Her sister: Alice (Hill) Hutton and husband Art of Brea, CA; and
Her grandchildren: Kristofer Smith, Cade Lacic, Carmen Smith, Abby Johnston, Luke Johnston and Lex Goff.
Numerous other family members.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Neva (Hill) Wakefield and Marilyn (Bannon) Metheney.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the Oxford High School Gymnasium in Oxford, Kansas. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
A memorial has been established in Ms. Hill's name for the Cowley County Humane Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
