Gertrude "Annabelle" Reed, 89, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday afternoon, October 14, 2020 at her home.
Born February 25, 1931 near Canton, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Karl and Alta (Kirkham) Bain. She was raised and received her education in Oklahoma City.
Annabelle was united in marriage to Donald R. Reed on March 17, 1950 in Oklahoma City. The couple made their first home in Oklahoma City where Annabelle worked as an aide at St. Anthony's Hospital. In 1951 the couple moved to Winfield, Kansas and Annabelle worked at William Newton Hospital on the OB floor as an aide. She later went to work at Beech Aircraft where she remained for over 20 years. She then went to work at Boeing Aircraft Company for over ten years, retiring as a supervisor in 1991. Don preceded her in death on July 15, 2014.
She was a member of GracePointe Assembly of God in Winfield. She enjoyed playing bingo, bowling, fishing, and traveling.
Her family includes her daughters, Carolyn Durham and husband, Terry of Winfield; Donna Sunnenberg and husband, James of Sanger, TX; Gloria Alexander and husband, Craig of Oxford; her sisters, Alice Brown and husband, Mike of Blackwell, OK; Clara and husband, Henry Olivia of Oklahoma City, OK; Rhetta Daugherty of Beaumont, TX; her sister-in-law Delores Bain of Oxford; and her ten grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Annabelle was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl Bain, Glen Bain, and Ronald Bain, and two granddaughters, Misty and Kristy Croft.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 19, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Memorial Lawn Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 6 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 2 to 4 that afternoon.
A memorial has been established in Annabelle's name for GracePointe Assembly of God Children's Camp Fund. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
