Obituary

Gerald Leroy Jones, Jr., 67, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Wesley Medical Center.

Born January 27, 1959, in Winfield, he was the son of Gerald Leroy, Sr. and Alvalene (Wilson) Jones. He was raised and received his education in Winfield. After high school, he began a career in the oil field, where he worked for over ten years, before going to work for Carl Harris Construction.

He was united in marriage to Angela “Angie” Moore on August 24, 1993, in Udall. The couple made their home in Winfield and as a young man, Jr. enjoyed bowling and playing baseball and softball, and demolition derby. He continued working for Carl Harris Construction for 15 years before returning to the oil field. He later worked for Cates Supply and in 2019, went to work for First Council Casino, working as a maintenance supervisor. He was an avid golfer, spending as much time as he could at the golf course. He also enjoyed watching Kansas City Chiefs football.

His family includes his wife Angie Jones of Winfield; his children, Kelly Ray Jones of Winfield; Elizabeth Ann Kerr (Clayton) of Winfield; Peggy Sue Anne Jones of Gary, TX; Harold Dean Beck (Amber) of Geuda Springs; Austin Wayne Beck (Brandon) of Winfield; Ashley Diane Schwantes (Wesley) of Winfield; Justin Kremeier of Texas; Johnathen Bailey Jones (Cassi) of Burden; his sister Shirley Schwab (Kenny) of Sylvia; his granddog Fenn; and his 18 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces.

In addition to his parents, Jr. was preceded in death by a brother Larry Dean Jones.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Miles Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 8 PM. The family will greet visitors from 4 to 6 that evening.

A memorial has been established in Jr’s name for the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
