George Alvin Wilson, Jr., 62, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at his home.
Born September 1, 1956 in Saskatchewan, Canada, he was the son of George A., Sr. and Eula (McCaslin) Wilson. He was raised and received his education in Winfield.
George married Carol Daughtery and to this union, two children were born. The couple later divorced. He was united in marriage to Dona Phillips on November 16, 1979 in Arkansas. The couple made their home in Winfield and to this union three daughters were born. The couple later divorced.
He worked for many years as an over-the-road truck driver to M&P Trucking. He took time off from driving a truck and worked for the City of Winfield. He later returned to trucking, retiring in 1996. After retiring, he drove a school bus for USD 465. He was a member of the VFW and the NRA. He enjoyed attending VFW conventions, fishing, camping, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandkids.
His family includes his son Charles Wilson of Winfield; daughters, Georgia Switzer and wife, Tara of Oklahoma; Misty Barlow and husband, Kyle of Arkansas City; Melissa Bryant of Winfield; Melinda McVay and husband, Shawn of Winfield; his five grandchildren and one great grandson.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Gilliland.
The family will hold memorial services at the Praise Cathedral Church in Winfield on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at 1:00 P.M.
