Obituary

George David Vaughn 68, of rural Ark City, husband of Liza Ben died peacefully at home surrounded by the love of his family on Friday February 22.

David was born in Wellington, Kansas, August 11, 1951. David's family moved to Oxford Kansas when he was 5 years old. David finished high school in Oxford and graduated in 1969.

David worked for Total Petroleum in Ark City for 20 years, and Conoco-Phillips in Ponca City Ok. for 21 years.

David married Liza Ben Steadham Vaughn in May of 1992, and built their dream home in rural Cowley County. David retired in 2018 to spend more time outdoors raising his cattle and improving his pastures. It is not difficult to find one of David's pristine pastures. David enjoyed building ponds, planting trees, and mowing, to give him, Liza and their bloodhounds a perfect place to watch a sunset.

David is preceded in death by his parents, George and Rose Vaughn, his sister Pamela Vaughn Kern, and brother Gerry Vaughn.

He is survived by his wife, Liza Ben of the home; Son Corey Vaughn and his wife Jamie of Brimfield, Illinois (Kylee and Ashlyn); Daughter Cara Hollimon and her husband Mike of Wichita, Kansas. (Hendrix, Lennox); Other children Amanda Cary Graves and her husband Seth of Ark City, Kansas (Jasmine and Lillian), Matt Cary and his wife Jennifer of Newkirk Oklahoma (Kylee and her husband Skylar (Taesyn and Roston) and (Dayton), Clint and Sara Bryant of Ark City, KS and their children Ruby and Hallie are David and Liza Ben's "bonus" family.

David was proud of his bloodhound family including Tilley Lou.Ozzie, Maggie May, Black Jack and Piper.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at 2:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests either planting a tree in Davids memory in your yard or donations to RCB Bank % of David Vaughn Memorial Fund. To be used at the discretion of the family to support, local 4-H, Isle of Lights, Ark City 4th of July fireworks, and other causes dear to David's heart.
