GEORGE SOMMERS, 74, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Wednesday morning, November 17, 2010 at his home.

Born June 19, 1936 in Woodson County, Kansas, he was the son of Ernest and Mirla (Adamson) Sommers. He was raised and received his education Toronto, Kansas.

George was united in marriage to Patsy Yianakopulos in 1954 in Derby, Kansas. The couple made their home in Winfield. He worked as a butcher as an adult and retired from Creekstone Beef. George was a member of the Free Methodist Church and most recently attended the First Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed gardening.

His daughters: Sheryl Sherman and husband, Steve of Hutchinson, KS; and Karen Karst of Olathe, KS; and
His 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Private family inurnment services are taking place at Union Graham Cemetery. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

A memorial has been established in George's name for Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
