Gary W. "Butch" Bailey, 76, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Monday morning, September 23, 2019 at his home.

Born July 29, 1943 in Winfield, Kansas, he was the son of William and Leoana (Cook) Bailey. He was raised and received his education in the Tisdale area and graduated from Winfield High School in 1961. Following school, he joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country in the Vietnam War. Upon receiving his honorable discharge, Butch returned to Winfield.

He was united in marriage to Patricia Shouse on July 8, 1967 at Tisdale United Methodist Church. The couple made their home in Winfield where Butch worked various jobs before going to work at General Electric. He left GE for a short time and drove truck for Stay Crisp and Guys Potato Chips and later returned to GE, where he remained for over 40 years. Patricia preceded him in death on April 13, 2010.

Butch was a member of Tisdale United Methodist Church. He was very active in his children's lives, coaching his sons in baseball. He enjoyed going to his grandchildren's sporting events and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

His family includes his children, Lynda Wollard of Winfield; Bryan Bailey and wife, Gail of Winfield; his brothers, Dean Bailey and wife, Lorene of Winfield; Marvin Bailey and wife, Linda of Winfield; Larry Bailey and wife, Connie of Winfield; John Bailey and wife, Pat of Winfield; his sister Ruth Thomas of Winfield; his grandchildren, Brice Bailey and wife, Shelby of Burden; Jeremy Colston of Winfield; Joshua Colston of Winfield; Megan Davis and husband, Matt of Derby; Gary Colston of Winfield; Levi Colston of Winfield; Emily Pace of Winfield; Isaac Bailey of Winfield; Andrew Bailey of Winfield; and his 30 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, Butch was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Bailey and a grandson Zach Bailey.

Graveside funeral services will be held Friday, September 27, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Tisdale Cemetery. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

A memorial has been established in Butch's name for Tisdale United Methodist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
