Obituary

Gary Kent DuPree, 75, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away early Thursday morning, November 27, 2014 at Wesley Galichia Heart Hospital in Wichita.

Born October 28, 1939 in Las Vegas, Nevada, he was the son of Cliff and Jean (Garnett) DuPree. He was raised and educated in Holly, Colorado where he graduated high school. He later attended college in Goodwell, Oklahoma and obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree.

Gary worked as a teacher and coach for 31 years in Tribune, Kansas. He taught fourth and fifth grade and coached basketball and cross country. He retired from teaching in 1994. Gary served as Mayor of Tribune for 25 years.

Mr. DuPree was united in marriage to Tonya Dreiling on June 4, 1992 in Omaha, Nebraska. The couple lived in Tribune and came to Winfield in 2011.

Gary was a member of Wings As Eagles Church in Winfield. He loved teaching and ministering to children of all ages. He enjoyed going to the coffee shop and the college library and sporting events. He loved sports and was an avid Dodgers fan.

His daughters: Michella Honas and husband, Jeff of Aurora, NE; Gena Larson and husband, Larry of Randolph, KS
His step-children: Dean Moser and wife, Tami of Greely, CO; Scott Moser and wife, Stephanie of Bridgeport, NE; Kama Rife and husband, Jason of Bridgeport, NE;
His brother: Mark DuPree of Davis, CA;
His sisters: Brooke DuPree of Colorado Springs, CO; Maris DuPree of Holly, CO; and
His 15 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be held in Winfield on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at the Wings As Eagles Church. A Memorial Service will be held in Tribune, KS at the High School Gymnasium on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made in Gary's name to the Greely County Recreation or to the Cumbernauld Village Employee Fund. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
