Obituary

Gary Max Curfman, 74, of Winfield, passed away at his home June 16, 2018 with his family by his side.

He was born July 1, 1943 in Winfield, the son of Donald Chester and Lois "Elaine" (Krepps) Curfman. He was raised and received his education in Akron and Winfield graduating from Winfield High School.  He married Irene McGlasson in Oxford in 1967.  The couple later divorced. Gary worked on the family farm growing up and later for the City of Winfield for 10 years.  He made his career at the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center in ground maintenance for 21 years.  After retirement, he continued to work as a delivery driver for Pizza Hut.  He was a member at the First Baptist Church in Winfield. Gary loved fishing, hunting for pecans and shelling them for others and being out and about.

Gary is survived by: his daughter, Jennifer Jackson of Wichita; his son, Darren Curfman and his fiancée Laci Jenkins of Winfield; his grandson, Brent Jackson of Wichita; his granddaughter, Alysa Jackson of Wichita; and one great grandbaby on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Randall "Randy" Curfman and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 22, 2018 at Miles Funeral Service.  Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery.  A visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  The family will greet visitors at this time.  A memorial has been established in Gary's name for Winfield Friendship Meals.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
