Obituary

Gary L. Carroll, 77, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Sunday morning, August 8, 2021, at the Kansas Veterans Home.

Born October 21, 1943, in Chanute, Kansas, he was the son of Chester and Audrey (Dozer) Carroll. He was raised and received his early education in Chanute. When he was young, Gary's family moved all over southeast Kansas and Missouri with his father's work in the ministry until settling in Wichita. After school, Gary enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country. Following his honorable discharge, he moved to Mulvane, Kansas where he worked for the lumber yard.

Gary was united in marriage to Melba Jean Maxwell on October 21, 1965, in Mulvane. The couple made their home in Mulvane and Gary began his career in the aircraft industry, working as a machinist at Beech. He worked for a time as a minister at the Final Hour Baptist Church in Mulvane. He later worked at Boeing and Learjet, before returning to Beech, where he remained until 2000. Gary and Melba moved to Haysville in 2000 and Gary worked for Norland Plastics until retiring. In 2017, the couple moved to Winfield.

His family includes his wife Melba Jean Carroll of Winfield; his daughter Corina Snyder and her husband, Erik of Queen Creek, AZ; his sisters, Zona, Caroline, and Zelda; a brother Mark Carroll; and five grandchildren, Corbin, Jurgen, Liliana, Ellie, and Samantha.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by a brother John Carroll.

Military committal honors will be held Friday, August 13, 2021, at 2:00 P.M. at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery under the direction of Miles Funeral Service.
