Obituary

Gale D "Pete" Wesbrook, 74, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Friday afternoon, October 11, 2019 at his home.

Born September 21, 1945 in Wichita, Kansas, he was the son of Clyde D and Mildred Grace (Wilson) Wesbrook. After his father passed away, Gale as an infant went to live with family in Moline until moving with his mother to Cedar Vale, Kansas. He received his early education in Cedar Vale before moving with his family to Winfield, where Gale attended and graduated from Winfield High School. Following high school, he worked several jobs in the Winfield area before attending Kansas State University in Manhattan. He then returned to Winfield and began working in manufacturing and construction.

Gale spent most of his life in Cowley County working various jobs. He moved to Colorado for several years where he worked as a carpet layer and worked for a time for the Coors Brewing Company. Wherever life took him he would always return home to Winfield. He loved fishing.

His family includes his brother C. Wilson Wesbrook and wife, Marge Bishop of Tempe, AZ; and his cousins, Martha Kelley and husband, Larry of Winfield; and Melva Harris and husband, Frank of Boise, ID.

In addition to his parents, Gale was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin and Wayne Wesbrook, a sister, Alma Johnson, a cousin, Robert Wilson, and an infant daughter, Rhonda Wesbrook.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter, Kansas. Miles Funeral Service of Winfield is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials have been established in Gale's name for Tisdale United Methodist Church and for Central Baptist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
