Gail Louise Lowther-Morton, 63, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday evening, December 11, 2012 at William Newton Hospital.
Born June 28, 1949 in Winfield, Kansas, she was the daughter of Richard and Marie (McFarland) Potter. She was raised and received her education in Winfield graduating from Winfield High School in 1967. She then attended Wichita State University where she was a member of the Wichita Symphony as a String Bass player.
On March 20, 1970, Gail married John R. Lowther in Winfield. The couple made their home in Natick, Massachusetts. To this union, two children were born. The couple later divorced.
In 1981, Gail returned to Winfield to be near family. She was united in marriage to Gail Lowell Morton on August 2, 1987 at Grace United Methodist Church in Winfield, Kansas. The couple made their home in Winfield, where Gail worked as a secretary for Winfield Bus Service. She later went to work as a secretary for Gordon-Piatt where she remained for over ten years, retiring as a buyer in 1999.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing the string bass in the Winfield Orchestra, painting, working on crafts and going to craft shows. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their events.

Her grandchildren: Sydnie Lowther, Brian Towles Jr., Mya Lowther, Emma, Kale, Ian, Zoey, Max, Harvey, and Harlan Elkins; and
One great grandchild: Bentley Elkins.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, December 17, 2012 at Grace United Methodist Church in Winfield. Inurnment will follow at Union Graham Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in Gail's name for the American Diabetes Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
