Frederick E. Chilcott, 79,
of Atlanta, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Lakepoint Long Term Care in Augusta.
Born January 17, 1938 in Wichita, Kansas, he was the son of Ralph Bennett and Clara Bernita (Holbert) Chilcott. He was raised in Wichita until the 3
rd
grade, when his family moved to Leon. The family moved to Renton, Washington for a short time in 1953 and returned to Leon where Fred graduated high school. Fred joined the United States Army Reserve on February 26, 1961 and served in the 89 Division as a Sergeant. He was honorably discharged on November 30, 1966.
He was united in marriage to Marilyn Joy Hall on November 21, 1962 at the Atlanta Methodist Church. The couple purchased the Lone Star school building sight and turned it into their home. Fred worked for Cessna Aircraft Company beginning March 15, 1959. He was an Avionics and Electrical troubleshooter and retired on January 15, 2000. Mrs. Chilcott preceded him in death on June 27, 2009.
Fred was a member of the Douglass United Methodist Church as well as the Cessna Flying Club. He enjoyed flying, amateur radio and fixing or modifying any and everything.

His daughters: Michielle R. Doll and husband, Kendle of Burden; Tina M. Henry of Benton;
His brothers: Stan N. Chilcott and wife, Connie of Atlanta; Edward G. Chilcott of Marion;
His grandchildren: Preston Lee Doll and Morgan Marie Henry; and
His great grandson: Jason Doll.
In addition to his parents and wife, Fred was preceded in death by two brothers, Virgil C. Chilcott and Donald R. Chilcott.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at the Douglass United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the Douglass Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Friday from 4 to 8 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 4 to 6 that evening.
Memorials have been established in Fred's name for Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and the Douglass United Methodist Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
